Updates that Hey Look! installs itself start normally. The Dock icon shows the unread number (Settings > Notifications & tray > Dock badge). Notifications are not available on macOS in this version.
Updating from a version before 1.0.6: the Keychain asks about your saved passwords once more at the first start, because the app is now signed with a fixed certificate. PDF attachments open in your default app (the preview offers Open and Save as).
Recommended for you
Linux
Any distro with the AppImage, or a native package.
If your desktop has no tray area, closing the window quits Hey Look!
Links and attachments open with xdg-open. Notifications need a notification service on the desktop. Passwords need GNOME Keyring or KWallet to be running and unlocked.
The tray icon has no click action: use Open Hey Look! in its menu. PDF attachments open in your default app (the preview offers Open and Save as).
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The WebView2 runtime is needed: the setup.exe installs it, the .msi does not.
macOS 11 or later (Apple silicon and Intel).
Linux, x86_64.

Add a mailbox
Sign in with Google or Microsoft, or add any account with IMAP/SMTP. iCloud and Yahoo need an app password.
It updates itself
Hey Look! checks GitHub for a newer version, downloads it after you agree, verifies the signature and restarts after a 5-second countdown you can cancel. You can turn the check off.
Your data stays yours
The mail cache is a local SQLite file on your computer. Secrets stay in the system credential store. See the privacy policy.
Gmail
Sign in with your Google account. Hey Look! has not finished Google’s review yet, so Google shows a warning first (“Google hasn’t verified this app”) and allows up to 100 people to sign in. What to do. With a personal Gmail account you can also use an app password.
